April 14th – 16th, AIAS with the help of Buffaloe Lanes South, will be hosting a bowling fundraiser for the club. The officers have these flyers below available.
Here’s how it works: Grab a flyer from an officer. Present the flyer to the bowling alley when you are paying for your afternoon/evening of fun and the Wake Tech AIAS Club will receive 50% of the profit back from your receipt. So tell your friends and family and come out and have some fun this weekend. All are welcome to come out. We hope to have a good turn out for this weekend-long event. A few members of the club will be there at 6:30p.m. on Sunday, April 16th to bowl, if anyone is interested in joining us.
Come out and listen to what Josh Stephens has to share with everyone!
Thank you to everyone who came out today, January 17th, for our first meeting of the semester. We hope that we were able to provide you with some valuable information today. Be sure to check back to the blog frequently, we will try to have more things posted this semester. Those could include interesting articles or videos pertaining to architecture. Also, if you find anything that you find interesting related to architecture please feel free to send that over to Victoria at email@example.com so that she can share those links with everyone else. We want to get things that you would like to see and read up on the blog.
The meeting minutes are located on the minutes page for anyone who happened to miss the meeting or couldn’t make it out today.
Let’s have a great semester!
Hope your finals and final projects are off to a great start. We are partnering up with the Student Government Association on a Food Drive. We would like everyone who is able to bring in a few cans (1-3 cans, more if you’re able) to donate on behalf of the AIAS club. We will have a box in ETB 219 for a collection zone. All of the donations will be turned in next Monday, December 19th. Again, any donations would help. I have attached an image from the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina that shows their most needed items. If you have any questions, check out their website at http://www.foodbankcenc.org/site/PageServer?pagename=FBCENCHome.
Thank you everyone!!
This is a great film that is now available on YouTube for everyone to watch. It really goes into detail about the major issue of climate change in today’s society. Leonardo DiCaprio travels across the globe to uncover the growing issue of climate change in our society.
The link to the video is below.
The link to the website of the film that provides a little more background information can also be found at the following link:
It is a great film and you should definitely check it out!
We have a wonderful opportunity to work together with the NC State AIAS chapter on a Sensory Garden project. On Saturday, October 22, they will be in the Design Development phase of their project. A few of our club members are going to be there to work on this project this Saturday. The event starts at 1pm. We ask that if you are interested in helping, that you please arrive by 12:45-12:50pm, since we will need to be let into the buildling.
The address is Brooks Hall, 50 Pullen Rd, Raleigh NC 27607
If you are interested, please meet at the statue in front of Brooks Hall in the included image below.
NC State also provided us with this small informational brochure.
We hope to see you there!
First, we all hope that you are having a great start to the semester and really enjoying your classes here at Wake Tech.
We have an opportunity coming up for anyone who is interested in volunteering with the AIA Triangle Tour. We did mention a few facts about it at our first meeting; but we wanted to put a post up with a little more information for you!
This is truly a wonderful experience. A few of us second year students had the opportunity to volunteer last year with AIA Triangle. So you’re probably wondering exactly what this is? Well, the AIA Triangle Tour is on Saturday, October 8th. There are two different shifts that you can sign up to do (or you are more than welcome to volunteer for the entire day). There are 5 residences located throughout Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. The architect of these residences are there all day, so it is a great way to start your networking early. Once you have completed your shift, your T-shirt (free T-shirt) is your ticket in to the other houses if you wish to tour those spaces.
There is also an after party at a location that will be determined soon. We should be getting that information to you shortly. If you choose to sign up, go to the AIA Triangle Tour Website and click the Volunteer link on the left-hand side of the page. When you sign-up, PLEASE be sure to use your Wake Tech e-mail address.
If you have any questions, please come see Victoria Parsons or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hope to see you all there!
Our build is on FRIDAY! YAY!!!!! I am including a link to volunteer with the evening event that is open to the public and the whole thing is going to be a blast!
To be clear! This is not part of the AIAS activity! This is us supporting the AIA Triangle who helps us maintain our official chapter membership by being our sponsors. Participation in ANY part of the canstruction day is an excellent resume-building opportunity and an excellent networking opportunity!
Please help make this amazing CAN-raiser happen!
