If you are interested in chess, then the Chess Club is for you – whether you are a beginner, want to get better at chess, or would like to compete at a high level against US Chess Federation-rated opponents! Beginners will find a friendly, nurturing atmosphere in which to learn chess at our weekly meetings. More advanced players will find opportunities to get better and, if they so desire, a chance to compete against local and collegiate players. Members can also participate in community service. Consider this an invitation to come learn chess, or if you have what it takes, to try out for the Chess Team and play for Wake Tech in intercollegiate competition! Come visit us at a weekly meeting on either Main or North and join the fun and energy!
Join us for some summer fun! The Summer Scramble consists of two rounds of chess. There will be both unrated as well as US Chess Federation-rated sections, so everyone can play! Whether you are a former student at Wake Tech a current student, or an upcoming student, you are welcome! Even if you are not affiliated with Wake Tech, but consider yourself a friend of Wake Tech, then you are invited to play!
The event will occur Tuesday, July 18th, from 6-10 PM on North Campus, Building D, Room 360. North Campus is located at 6600 Louisburg Rd, Raleigh, NC. There is free parking in the lot in front of Building D.
Free matches (including USCF-rated) as well as complimentary snacks and bottled water. Be on hand by 5:50 PM for a pairing.
