Clean Start Simulation

Comments from students about the Clean Start Simulation.

  • I loved this game.
  • Bettering myself after each attempt.
  • It was actually an enjoyable project and I learned a lot.
  • It provided a good insight on how small business manage to expand.
  • I liked that this simulation actually pertained to real world practical knowledge. It is very hard to find classes and projects that really help you learn hands on that do not feel like time wasters.
  • It became very addicting. It was like a game that you wanted to keep playing until you beat your previous high score. I also learned so much. It took all the concepts we learned and put them into a simulation where we could actually see how our business was affected by changing certain components.
  • How I could use many strategies to try and beat the game. I also learned how to balance workers and set a equilibrium price per unit. I also liked how it showed the competitors strategies. This game was addictive to play and I would always want to try and beat my high score.
  • I liked how I was able to own my own business.
  • Being able to put into practice the concepts learned in the class.
  • The usage of data from income statement, cash flow, and other competitor’s statistics. It gave me an idea of what to expect when I open my own business.
  • i thought it was fun how we could see the results in real time and we were making decisions quarter by quarter.
  • I liked the simulation aspect and the rewards and consequences which effected your business both in the present and in the future.
  • Made you think.
  • I enjoyed the competition for the leader boar.
  • I like how interactive it was! It definitely was fun to play and engaging; a lot better than usual projects about researching and reading. This was more hands on and interactive, so it was more fun to play and attempt to get a great score! You could push the limits of your company and see how it affected your final profitability.
  • It was very much like a game and not threatening at all. I had more fun than I ever expected.
  • Figuring out what has an impact on profits
  • The immersive experience of the project
  • I learned that many aspects go into running a business. I learned to interpret financial statements while keeping a close eye on employee and customer satisfaction.
  • The game blends the business concepts into a set of (virtual) real business operation scenarios and sets everything in motion. What a wonderful experience for me to participate in this game!
  • I like how I was in full control of what was happening in the “company”.
  • This project has been my favorite throughout high school and college and quite addictive, I definitely will be playing it more even once the semester ends to see if I can beat my previous record in sales.

  • It was diverse from anything I have done before.
  • I’m a big fan of simulation games. This was perfect for my taste.
  • I liked that we kept being able to restart and try different things each time. I also liked all the charts so during the game we could see our progress
  • I liked that it was interactive and I had control .
  • How we actually got to see our employees that we hired.
  • Figure out the correlation between all the graphs, how they relate to each other.
  • The information provided, the progression and the spreadsheet information .
  • The room for error; experiencing bankruptcy.
  • It gave you a chance to be the boss and make all the decisions.
  • The game was more than just ‘googling’ some information and re-phrasing it into a report.
  • Clean start simulation help student to know how to start a business.
  • The competition. Competing against class mates to see who grossed the most earnings.
  • Being able to bankrupt
  • Building a business and seeing different aspects of my choices
  • A really great idea to introduce us as a intro to business class so we can see what decisions we might face. I also enjoy that MIT actually put some time and resources into this simulation instead of trying to pass off some piece of crap and expect us to be impressed by it.
  • I enjoyed how it taught us how to start our own business and how to be an entrepreneur. It made us think how to become more successful and punished us for making mistakes.
  • the fact that it’s interesting and it works like in real life
  • It was pretty addicting.
  • realistic
  • Compeition with classmates
  • The ability to make multiple attempts which allowed for risk taking behaviors.
  • having the ability to manage a company from the ground up and see it grow with your decision making.
  • It allowed for experimentation with how different changes, choices, and factors would come into play throughout the simulation and to run the simulation multiple times and test out what works out the best.
